Description of the Scheme |
National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) provides one-time lump sum cash assistance of Rs. 20,000 to families living below poverty line on the death of the primary bread-earner between the age group of 18-59. The objective of the scheme is to ensure social security of the households living below poverty line. The payment is to be made to the widow or the un-married daughter of the family. |

Procedure |
The application forms are available with DSWO/TSWO free of cost. The applicant has to complete the application form and enclose proof regarding age, income, status, address and death certificate. Complete case is to be submitted to the concerned TSWO who consolidates the lists and forwards to Block Level Sanctioning Committee. The cases are then submitted to DSWO for accord of sanction by District level sanctioning committee headed by Director General, Social welfare Department, Kashmir. |

The financial assistance is provided upto Rs.20,000 under Centre Share and an equal contribution is mandatory for the State Govt. to contribute.
